DETERMINATION OF SOME PHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF SELECTED NIGERIAN GRAINS
Abstract
Some physical properties of selected Nigerian grains of relevant industrial application were selected for study under this study work. The grains considered are Phaseolus lanatus, Pisum sativum, Cicer arietinum, Glycine max, Vicia fada, Cajanus cajan, Voandzeia subterranea, Lablab niger medik, Phaseolus angularis and Phaseolus vulgaris. Standard test and experiment were used in studying the physical properties e.g shapes, sizes, number of grains per unit weight, sphericity, roundness, geometric mean diameter, surface area, volume and bulk density. Each of the test was replicated hundred times and their mean values were obtained. The result thus, obtained fully describes the physical characteristics of these grains growth in Nigeria.
